]]> National Museum of New Delhi is one of the biggest museums in India. It was established in 1949 and many interesting artifacts are exhibited in the museum.Functioning under the Ministry of Culture, it is located on Maulana Azad Road near Janpath and houses all types of artworks like those from the ancient times to the present times.
It all started out with an exhibition of Indian artifacts placed at London in the year 1947-1948. Curators of the exhibition that was conducted at the Royal Academy, London made a decision to set up a show of all exhibits once in India before the unique collections were returned to their respective museums.
After a positive response, the same collections were shown at the Delhi’s Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The exhibition enticed so many authorities that it was decided to establish National Museum of arts in Delhi. Thus, the National Museum came into being the same year and was opened by the then governor of India Chakravarti Rajagopalachari. However, the current museum building was completed in 1960, and thereafter it was open to the public.
Currently, more than two million Indian and foreign origin artifacts are exhibited in the museum. It includes bronze and terracotta displays that date back to 2700 BC, sculptures made of wood from Mauryan era, artifacts from Gupta period, art pieces from the Vijayanagar of South India, Indus Valley Civilization, Gandharva period, Mughal Era and more.
Also, present in the national museum is another Buddhist artwork section which includes many antiques of Lord Buddha, unearthed and found in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh.
Some more interesting displays include the dancing statue from Mohenjodaro, miniature art pieces, mural paintings, costumes, musical instruments, tribal arts and jewellery, weapons and some very exciting memorials autographed by the popular Mughal emperor Jahangir.

It was built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq in 1354 which has now turned into ruins. According to people, burning candles and incense sticks are found here every Thursday. And then, the very next day bowl with milk and raw grain is found in some parts of the fort, because of this the fort is now considered a ghost fort.
The area around Khooni nadi in Rohini is a quiet and deserted area, very few people come here. No one goes nearby the river because it is believed that dead bodies are found nearby the river. Murder, accident, suicide whatever the reason, it is common to see dead bodies along the river bank. That’s the reason it’s becoming one of the most haunted places in Delhi.
4. Mutiny House, Kashmiri Gate
This monument was built by the British in the memory of the soldiers who were killed in the 1857 mutiny. The memories and shadows still remain around the building. Therefore, it is considered a haunted place.
The palace was once the hunting ground used to by the Tughlaq dynasty. The palace is called “Bhuli Bhatiyari “after the name of a woman who took care of the property and she is still believed to be living there. In the night, no one dares to go here. Usually, peculiar voices come from here that make this a scary place.
Spreads over a 10 km area, Sanjay van is a dense forest where people claimed to have seen children’s souls, often found playing there and then disappear into the darkness of the forest.
This graveyard is as haunting as its name, local people have witnessed some shadows and their activities just like haunting scenes in a horror movie.
This Mosque located in Mehrauli. Here is a graveyard of 16th century Sufi Sant Jamali Kamali. People believe that there is a presence of jinn here. Many people have scary experiences here.
Here, the three sons of Bahadur Shah Zafar were killed by the British. Till today, all three princes’ shadows are present in this area.
